" I returned the car on the day of a taxi strike in Rome, unknown to me until the attendant told me before locking up and after the car was returned. The attendant could have told me to rent the car for another day. There was no help offered to secure any other transportation to my hotel or any other suggestions for how we might safely get to our hotel. I was even told that there was no wifi available so that I might download an alternate transportation app. My wife and I were left standing outside while the attendant hurriedly locked up and left effectively stranding us on the other side of Rome. It would be helpful if languages spoken would be included on the office location descriptions. "

The multimedia system stopped recognizing the USB ports, meaning Apple CarPlay would not work. I had to reset the car to factory defaults twice to reconnect the USB ports. "

The only complaint I have for this year (upon arrival in Rome airport): we had to call multiple times & waited at least 30 minutes to be picked up. " What I like about Kemwel - and we've rented through them in the past - is that it's an American company for one thing, headquartered I think in Maine, and when you call, you can always get somebody to talk to pretty promptly, they all speak American English, so there's no issue with not being able to understand them (contrary to many companies who use "call centers" located all over the world, and you wind up talking to people who, though usually very nice, are difficult to impossible to understand) . Furthermore, the people I dealt with were knowledgeable and helpful. What a refreshing change from so many companies one has to deal with in the course of doing business of any kind in America these days. "
" We picked up our rental car in Rome, and dropped it off in Naples 16 days later. Our experience with the Europcar staff in Rome was excellent. They were very helpful and patient. We accepted an upgrade, but when we were not satisfied with two alternatives they offered us, they continued to work with us patiently until we found a vehicle which suited our needs. We really appreciated how nice they all were, they really wanted to please us, and they did. They were very busy, but nonetheless stayed on top of our situation and worked with us to find the vehicle we wanted. On the return in Naples, even though it was bedlam there, with people stacked up at ALL of the rental counters waiting for their cars - or just waiting in line to see an agent - the guy who checked us in was patient and thorough, took us in turn, and was communicative and patient once he got to us. We wanted a printed bill right away, rather than wait for an email later, so he showed us to a little side office, and the lady there was more than happy to print out our final invoice, and processed our payment, despite how busy she was. Our experiences with Europcar were very positive, and everyone we encountered at both ends of the transaction were patient and thorough. Very good report card for Europcar. "

" I had a 60 day rental for a Panda or similar at FCO (I do this long-term twice a year) and when I said that I hoped they had a good car for me because it was such a long rental, the woman told me that she had only one car (Panda) and that had almost 25000 km on it, or some such, and that I would have to be returning it to Europcar and exchanging it for another car at some point during my rental. They would need to sell it because the "mileage" would reach its maximum. This would have been an enormous inconvenience for me and something I should not have had to deal with. The only thing she said she could do was offer me a new Citreon deisel for 2 euros per day more. I asked if that included VAT and she said yes, but it did not. I took that car and paid an additional 180 euros when I was presented with the final bill upon dropping off the car. I am writing these comments to you as a very longtime customer of yours - I'm always pleased with Kemwel/AutoEurope but Europcar should have presented me with a viable vehicle for a 60 day rental...and I'm not happy with them about this! "

They were laughing and joking around; one went for coffee and came back with coffee for the other who still hadn't started attending. when I got up to the counter and gave my info, after a little while the person left on a break or something and another person attended me. Seems if they're sitting at their stations they should attend to waiting customers, or, at minimum, say something to them, like "I'll be right with you," Otherwise, car was fine, and the person who attended to me was fine. " Unlike past experience, I did not have to wait long at the counter - no more than 2 minutes. On other trips, 15 minutes or much more was normal. So that was a clear improvement. But we were disappointed that the car was still being washed, which delayed us for 15 minutes. Also, I was misinformed by the counter staff about the fee for road service. She told me 4 Euros, I asked if that was for the entire trip, and she said yes. I was then surprised to be billed for 4 Euros a day. It is also even more surprising that such a service is not included, as any breakdowns are the fault and responsibility of Europcar, not the renter. "

" The car that we had reserved (or a suitable substitute) was not available at the indicated time. An upgrade was provided but was not ready for nearly an hour. Although the wait was an irritation, the model was larger than the reserved auto and we also benefitted from its GPS equipment. The vehicle had damage but I could not convince an associate to document it, as we had booked the zero deductible coverage and he said it 'didn't matter'. Unfortunately, I had an incident where I scraped a brick wall and can only hope I won't be charged administration fees for two 'damaged' areas. "

" The staff at Hertz were kind of enough to upgrade the vehicle from a Ford C-Max to Ford Kuga with automatic transmission at no extra charge. However, the vehicle was not properly washed exterior wise and there were quite a few dents. However, the most disturbing anomaly was the condition of the front tires. They needed replacement as the tread wear was marginal especially if driving in rainy conditions would have compromised safety. Mind you the rental was delivered with 91500 Kms (approximately) and I added about 4700 Kms during the three week rental period. Also at drop off, the Hertz rep did not correctly record the in and out mileage. Apart from the tires, I am very satisfied with vehicle. "

When that spot is the car return location, someone ought to provide directions and a map or at least point out that it'd be a good idea to check on the internet rather than going in blind. "

" I was given the wrong vehicle at Rome FCO. I immediately took the vehicle to Hertz in Perugia and gave them the documents. I was told that the copies would be sent to FCO and they would send me a corrected rental agreement. I heard nothing for several days. I send emails, tried calling the FCO office (forget that) and even contacted Hertz Customer Service. They all referred me back to the FCO office. Finally, at 11:30PM I got through. I was sent an email with a screen shot of a computer screen. When I turned the car back in to FCO they tried to charge me €266 for the "vehicle change". It took so long to resolve that I almost missed my flight. All else was fine, though. "

I parked in available spot, went over to where two of them were talking together alone in office (no customers) and asked what to do. they said get your cases and then come here. I did. she took keys and was gone a long time; i saw her looking at another white car (not mine) and asked remaining cou nter staff what was up. she's coming...so if it takes so long to return vehicle, they shouldn't stop to inspect other cars. they were nice though and did complete their job--just could have been friendler and a dash more efficient "

" They are nice overall, but when I got there tired and jetlagged, they said my credit card didn't go through, and that I needed to contact my cc company. Long story short, it turned out that it was Budget's equipment, not my cc company, but here's the background. ( had already let cc know I'd be out of country, so I was surprised). (I am fluent in Italian, so this is all in their language). I asked if they could make the contact and let me talk; NO (once another company did do that). Anyway, stepped out of line and after several efforts, reached my company. They said nothing was wrong on their end, and that it didn't even register as an attempt. so ask them to check. Took phone over to her and asked her if she wanted to hear their response, but no, she said she'd try again, so I waited again in line. This time, she said she'd try with another different equipment (sorry don't know what its called) and lo and behold, that worked. So, my only recommendation is that before sending customers away to try to call their company FIRST try to make it go through on different equipment. Otherwise, good experience, nice people. I have rented cars in Italy for 16 years and this is the first time I was asked for an IDP. Please inform renters that some rental companies in Rome are asking for an IDP. There were three people sitting at the counter, but only one was taking customers, and there was quite a line. Not sure what the others were doing (paperwork??) but during the time I and others were waiting, there was only that one person. Seems that, just like cashiers at the grocery store, when the line increases other staff already there can start helping out. Nobody addressed this, or even said "Thank you for waiting," or the equivalent, since I speak fluent Italian. Grazie. "

They have a new process that involved giving your information for a place in line & then going through the entire process again with an agent. It was redundant & inefficient - also, those of us who had reservations were not distinguished from walk in customers which was very frustrating. Waiting 1 1/2 hours for a car after an 8 hour flight was exhausting. Thank you for this opportunity to vent. "
