Most car rental suppliers in Denmark have a minimum rental age of 23 with a maximum rental age of 80. Age restrictions may vary depending on car category. All drivers must have a valid driver's license held for at least one year and it must be for the same class of vehicle rented. Seatbelts must be worn at all times by all passengers when traveling in the front or rear seats of the vehicle. Headlights must be on at all times day or night; fog lights can only be on during inclement weather (fog, pouring rain, snow etc) and must be turned off when entering congested areas. Talking on a cell phone while driving in Denmark is strictly prohibited fines will be imposed in the event of a violation.
Children 3 years old or younger must be in a child safety seat, which is appropriate to their age, weight and height. All children under the age of 3 years or smaller then 135 cm tall must be placed in the back seat of the vehicle at all times. Children who are between the ages of 3 and 6 years should be placed in a booster seat.
Speed limits in Denmark are as follows: cities 50 km/h (31 mph) suburban areas 80-90 km/h (49-55 mph), highways 110-130 km/h (68-80 mph). Speed limits are approximate please pay attention to posted speed limit signs when traveling.
Rules of the Road
In Denmark traffic travels on the right side of the road and pass on the left. Drinking and driving is strictly prohibited in Denmark, violations will result in heavy penalties and possible jail sentences.
Gas and Diesel
Gas stations are frequent along highways and most accept international credit cards.
The only tolls in Denmark are crossing the Storbæltbroen Bridge between Zealand and Funun and the Øresundbroen Bridge between Copenhagen and Malmo. Tolls range from 30-40 USD one-way.
Parking is permitted on the right hand side of the road only unless otherwise marked. Metered parking is available in most cities, when not available a parking disc must be used. Parking discs can be purchased at gas stations, banks and tourist offices.
When renting a car in an unfamiliar country it is always a good idea to find out what forms of insurance are required in the particular country you are traveling to as it can vary from country to country. The insurance guidelines of the country where you pick up the vehicle will be in effect for the duration of your rental even if the rental is returned to another country.

Third party liability coverage is required for all rentals commencing in Denmark. Kemwel includes third party liability insurance on all rental rates in Denmark. Third party liability insurance provides $ 13,000,000 USD worth of coverage for bodily injury and $2,800,000 USD worth of coverage for property damage. Most suppliers in Denmark will have a deductible around $765 USD that may apply to drivers between the ages of 23-25 years. Coverage may vary depending on rental supplier. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection is included in all of Kemwel’s inclusive rental rates in Denmark, generally at an advance purchase discount. Many of the vehicles rented in Denmark through Kemwel can travel through most Western European countries without any restrictions. Certain vehicles due to insurance regulations may have travel restrictions included luxury cars, automatics and large vans.
