For rentals commencing in Belgium the following guidelines will apply:
For car rentals commencing in Belgium fire and third party liability are mandatory. Kemwel has included these two forms of insurances on all rentals taking place in Belgium. Third party liability covers damages to people and property outside of the rental vehicle and with most suppliers will cover an unlimited amount. Fire insurance covers the rental vehicle in the event of a fire and with most rental suppliers covers an unlimited amount.
Collision Damage waiver (CDW) and theft protection are included in our inclusive rental rates. When the CDW and Theft is purchased it releases the client from full financial responsibility in the event of a collision or theft. A majority of the suppliers that we work with in Belgium have some form of a deductible the client is still responsible for that can range from $700 USD up to $3100 USD depending on the rental supplier and car category.
Many rental suppliers offer a supplementary insurance locally called Super CDW for a cost of $5-$7 USD per day, this optional insurance will reduce the amount of the deductible to $100-$400 USD in most cases. Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) is available locally with most suppliers for about $7-$10 USD per day, this insurance will help cover medical related expenses up to an amount set by the rental supplier for the driver and passengers. If you are worried about theft of your personal belongings in the rental car then you may want to purchase what is called Personal Effects Coverage (PEC). Personal Effects Coverage is available locally with some rental supplies for about $7 USD per day, this form of insurance will cover items stolen from the vehicle up to an amount set by the local rental supplier.
