If you are planning to travel into central London be aware of the central London congestion charge; any vehicle entering central London between the hours of 7am to 6:30pm Monday-Friday is subject to a charge of approx £ 8 (15 USD). The congestion charge is not the only thing you going to want to know when traveling to the United Kingdom; below you will find a list of things that are very important in the operation of a vehicle while in the UK.

Gas is available in all major cities, on most highways, and in most towns as well.

Insurance Information

General Information
When renting a car in an unfamiliar country it is always a good idea to find out what forms of insurance are required in the particular country you are traveling to as it can vary from country to country. The insurance guidelines of the country where you pick up the vehicle will be in effect for the duration of your rental even if the rental is returned to another country.

A car rental in United Kingdom through Kemwel will always include third party liability and fire insurance. Collision damage waiver (CDW) and theft protection are optional and are included on our inclusive rental rates in the UK. Specific details regarding the insurance on your car rental will print the terms and conditions area of your rental voucher. You may want to decline the CDW and theft protection in order to take advantage of coverage provided by your credit card, in this event please contact your credit card company to learn of the specifics of your coverage.

For rentals commencing in the United Kingdom the following guidelines will apply:

Required Coverage
Third party liability and fire insurance are required for rentals commencing in the UK and are included in all of Kemwel’s basic rental rates. Fire insurance provides unlimited coverage for the vehicle in the event of fire. Third party liability provides $359,000 USD up to an unlimited amount of coverage (depending on rental supplier) for damage to people or property outside of the vehicle.

Optional Coverage
Collision Damage waiver (CDW) and theft protection are included in our inclusive rental rates. When the CDW and Theft is purchased it releases the client from full financial responsibility in the event of a collision or theft. A majority of the suppliers that we work with in England have some form of a deductible the client is still responsible for that can range from $1050 USD up to $2250 USD depending on the rental supplier and car category.

Many rental suppliers offer a supplementary insurance locally called Super CDW for a cost of $13-$40 USD per day, this optional insurance will reduce the amount of the deductible to $0-$600 USD in most cases. Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) is available locally with most suppliers for about $6-$11 USD per day, this insurance will help cover death and disability expenses up to limited monetary about set by the rental supplier for the driver and passengers. If you are worried about theft of your personal belongings in the rental car then you may want to purchase what is called Personal Effects Coverage (PEC). Personal Effects Coverage is available locally with some rental supplies for about $6 USD per day, this form of insurance will cover items stolen from the vehicle up to an amount set by the local rental supplier. Optional insurance is available with certain suppliers only and prices are subject to change without notice, please feel free to contact Kemwel toll free at 1 877 820 0668 for further details.
