With the annual cherry harvest comes Ficksburg's celebration of the red fruit. For a week, the town holds tastings, pickings, and harvest demonstrations to show why they are responsible for 95% of the annual cherry crop of South Africa. Stay for the crowning of Mr. Cherry Pip and Miss Cherry Blossom and the fantastic fireworks display on the final day of the festival.

The second oldest golf tournament, only behind the British Open, is hosted annually at Cape Town's beautiful Pearl Valley. There is more at stake than the purse for this event, as the top ten performers in the European PGA tour are automatically selected to the European team against the US at the Ryder Cup.
